The PMA dates back to the 1960’s when a small group of family companies in plumbing and building supplies met on an informal basis to establish standards, guidlines and quality control for the industry. In particular to monitor the quality and performance of imported goods.
A small buying group was established at the same time. In 1965 as the association became larger the group formaly registered as an association. In 2004 the PMA established as a public company limited by guarantee.
Today the PMA represents over 60 plumbing merchants and suppliers with over 160 sales offices and trade counters. The Plumbing Merchants and Suppliers still reflect the original family origins and include public listed companies.
